Job Summary
The Senior Accountant is an integral member of the Finance Team responsible to the Group Financial Controller, with a key role in ensuring and recording the robust day-to-day operation of the team and producing management information.
The Senior Accountant will implement designated controls, and checks, within the Finance team. The Senior Accountant will support in ensuring effective and accurate management accounting, departmental reporting, and ensuring compliance with accounting and Tax regulations.
Your responsibilities
• Ensures the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactions.
• Prepares and records asset, liability, revenue, and expenses entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
• Maintains general ledger by transferring subsidiary accounts, preparing a trial balance, and reconciling entries.
• Monthly financial close activities such posting accruals and typical “cut off” procedures, prepares sub-ledger roll forward schedules, improves variance analysis/review procedures to prevent errors and ensure entries are recorded in the correct time period(s) and within the correct group entity.
• Identifies any expenditures which can potentially be capitalizable under IAS 38.
• Co-ordinates the bi-weekly supplier and employee expenses payment runs including comparisons to weekly cash flow budget variances. Recommends cash flow changes and disbursement list for Group FC approval.
• Cash treasury responsibilities to ensure sufficient cash in all bank accounts to meet scheduled outgoing payments.
• Reviews and manages 13-week cash flow for reasonableness of future disbursements in A/P ledger, forecast receipts in A/R Ledger and corporate budgets. Recommending intra company funding transfers where necessary.
• Manage the international based external statutory audits (US, Dubai, Singapore and Japan) ensuring set deadlines are met.
• Investigating and resolving internal/external audit findings, account discrepancies, and issues of non-compliance.
• Supports the Assistant Controller on the external group audit process through preparation of reports and schedules.
• Processes group bank account reconciliations on a daily basis which involves working closely with the Credit Control Manager and AP Specialist.
• Optimize the handling of bank and relationships, ensuring bank accounts, bank mandates and KYC documents are regularly updated on a domestic and global level.
• Posting of payroll calculations for all entities on a monthly basis and ensures outsourced international payrolls are paid on time.
• Assist Legal Counsel on the setup of new global entities to facilitate expansion.
• Researching accounting issues for compliance with IFRS.
• Assist in the formulation of internal controls and expense policy documents to comply with legislation and establish best practices.
• Ensures compliance with and prepares covenant debt reporting on a quarterly basis.
• Assistance with Group VAT/GST returns on a quarterly basis for review by the Group Financial Controller.
• Assists the Group Financial Controller and Assistant Controller with a variety of tasks as needed.
Skills, Ability and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field and a Qualified Chartered Accountant (ACCA/ACA/CPA).
• Strong organizational and stress management skills in a fast based environment.
• Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively with different levels of employees.
• High ability to follow up with internal and external stakeholders on pending issues.
• You will be a result driven, proactive and a highly organised self-starter.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Skilled in time management and the ability to prioritize tasks and meet tight deadlines.
• Solid understanding of IFRS and applicable regulations.
• Demonstrates good interpersonal skills along with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Netsuite experience is desirable.
• Advanced skills in office technology: especially in the mastery of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Powerpoint and databases.
